Disposal of old devices

Manufacturer information for end users in accordance with the German Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act (ElektroG)

MARAWE GmbH & Co. KG is registered as a manufacturer of electrical and/or electronic equipment with the German Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act (ElektroG) at the stiftung elektro-altgeräte register (ear), Nordostpark 72, 90411 Nuremberg, with the WEEE registration number DE70793505.

In accordance with Section 18 (4) and Section 19a of the German Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act (ElektroG), we are obliged to inform end users of the following information.

1. Separate collection of waste equipment

Electrical and electronic equipment (EEE) that has become waste is referred to as waste equipment. Owners of waste equipment must dispose of it separately from unsorted municipal waste. In particular, waste equipment should not be disposed of in household waste or the yellow bin, but in special collection and return systems. There are free collection points for waste electrical equipment in your area, as well as other collection points for the reuse of equipment, if applicable. You can obtain the addresses from your city or local authority.

2. Meaning of the symbol ‘crossed-out bin’

The symbol of a crossed-out wheelie bin shown on electrical and electronic equipment indicates that the device in question must not be disposed of with household waste at the end of its service life, but must be disposed of separately from unsorted municipal waste.

3. Removal of batteries and rechargeable batteries as well as lamps

If the products contain batteries, rechargeable batteries or lamps that can be removed from the old device without causing damage, these must be removed before disposal and disposed of separately as batteries or lamps.

4. Options for returning old appliances

Owners of old appliances can return them free of charge using the return or collection options for old appliances set up and made available by public waste disposal authorities. Under certain conditions, it is also possible to return them to distributors.

For distributors: The return must be free of charge when purchasing a new device of the same type (1:1 return). In addition, it is possible to return old devices to the distributor free of charge if the external dimensions are no larger than 25 cm and the return is limited to three old devices per device type (0:1 return).

Retail trade: Distributors with a sales area for electrical and electronic equipment of at least 400 m² are obliged to take back waste electrical equipment. Food retailers with a total sales area of at least 800 m² who offer electrical and electronic equipment several times a calendar year or on a permanent basis and make it available on the market are also obliged to take back such equipment.

Distance selling market (online retailers): Distributors who sell their products using means of distance communication are obliged to take back old equipment if the storage and shipping areas for electrical and electronic equipment are at least 400 m².

Trade-in: Of course, we also take care of the disposal of old devices. You can therefore return your old electrical devices to us free of charge (with reimbursement of postage costs) in accordance with the 1:1 or 0:1 return conditions, adding a short note saying ‘Disposal of old electrical device’ to the address given at the end of this document.

5. Data protection notice

We would like to point out to all end users of electrical and electronic equipment that they are responsible for deleting personal data on the old devices to be disposed of.

6. Collection and recycling rates

Information on the fulfilment of the quantitative targets pursuant to Section 10 (3) ElektroG (collection rate) and Section 22 (1) 1 ElektroG (recycling rates), as well as compliance with the information requirements pursuant to Section 18 (2) of the German Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act:

Under the WEEE Directive, EU Member States are required to collect data on waste electrical and electronic equipment and submit it to the European Commission. Further information can be found on the BMUV website or at www.elektrogesetz.de.

Manufacturer information for end users in accordance with the Battery Act (BattG)

MARAWE GmbH & Co. KG is registered as a manufacturer of device batteries with the German Battery Act (BattG) at the stiftung elektro-altgeräte register (ear), Nordostpark 72, 90411 Nuremberg, with the battery registration number DE34497124.

Information on battery disposal

With regard to the sale or delivery of a device that contains batteries, we are required to provide you with the following information in accordance with Section 18 of the German Battery Act (BattG):

The symbol of a crossed-out wheelie bin on batteries or accumulators indicates that they must not be disposed of in household waste at the end of their service life. If batteries or accumulators contain mercury (Hg) > 0.0005%, cadmium (Cd) > 0.002% or lead (Pb) > 0.004%, you will find the respective chemical symbol below the crossed-out wheelie bin symbol. You are legally obliged to return old batteries and accumulators after use. You can do this free of charge at a retail store or other collection point in your area. You can obtain addresses of suitable collection points from your city or local authority. Batteries may contain substances that are harmful to the environment and human health. Special care must be taken when handling lithium-containing batteries due to the particular risks involved. The separate collection and recycling of old batteries and accumulators is intended to prevent negative effects on the environment and human health. Please avoid generating waste from old batteries as much as possible, e.g. by favouring batteries with a longer service life or rechargeable batteries. Please avoid littering public spaces by not carelessly discarding batteries or electrical and electronic equipment containing batteries. Please consider options for reusing a battery instead of disposing of it, for example by reconditioning or repairing the battery. Further information on the Battery Act can also be found on the Internet at www.batteriegesetz.de. As a manufacturer, we are obliged under the Battery Act to take back the batteries contained in our product range. You can therefore return your old batteries or rechargeable batteries free of charge (postage costs will be refunded) to the address given at the end of this document, enclosing a short note stating ‘Disposal of old batteries’.
