The CaratScreenPen needs a very small amount of a harmless electrolyte-liquid included int the probe tip when measuring. Due to its limited volume, the pen only has a certain lifetime because under a certain liquid level, a reliable measurement cannot be guaranteed anymore. If you should notice deviating values or calibration errors after some time, you should replace the pen.
