The BarScreenSensor is the right testing device for checking the authenticity of bars of gold, silver and other precious metals from 50/100 g upwards. The measuring principle is based on ultrasonic thickness measurement, which enables complete penetration of all common bar sizes and detects inclusions of foreign metals at other sound velocities. This enables precious metal dealers, banks and pawnbrokers as well as private collectors and investors to protect themselves against counterfeits and avoid high losses in value.

The mode of operation is simple: the ultrasonic analyzer calculates the thickness of your test object by sending ultrasonic waves into the object and measuring the time it takes for the sound to return to the measuring head. By comparing the measurement result with the actual thickness (must be determined using a caliper), foreign metal inclusions can be identified. Deviations between the measured and the actual thickness indicate counterfeits, such as ingots with a false core made of tungsten or a lead-tin alloy. The measurement requires the application of ultrasonic gel - measurement through packaging is not possible with the BarScreenSensor!

Please note: For a comprehensive authenticity test, it is always necessary to use other test methods in addition to the measurement with the BarScreenSensor, such as checking the density. We also recommend a conductivity measurement with the Goldanalytix GoldScreenSensor or GoldScreenPen (please note the limited penetration depth of these test devices!).
